2020 Trade press

CARGOTEC CORPORATION, TRADE PRESS RELEASE, 24 MARCH 2020 AT 2 PM (EET)

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has concluded an agreement with long-standing partner Matrans Rotterdam Terminal to supply four Kalmar Eco Reachstackers. The order, which includes a comprehensive five-year Kalmar Complete Care service agreement for the machines, was booked in Cargotec's 2020 Q1 order intake, with delivery scheduled to take place during Q2 of 2020.

Matrans Rotterdam Terminal is a full-service logistics provider with extensive experience in various segments including forest products, project and breakbulk cargo, and short-sea container transport. The terminal is part of the Matrans Group and is located in the Port of Rotterdam. Matrans already operate a fleet of five Kalmar Eco Reachstackers. Expanding the fleet to nine machines will deliver estimated annual fuel savings of EUR 100,000.

The easy-to-maintain and eco-efficient Kalmar Eco Reachstacker can reduce fuel consumption by up to 40% compared to older machines without compromising on productivity. It also features smoother and faster acceleration, less noise and lower emissions for enhanced driver experience. It is helping customers around the world to reduce fuel consumption and reduce the overall impact of their operations on the environment and improving their operational performance .

Kalmar Complete Care provides Matrans with preventive and corrective maintenance services to an agreed service level, helping them to improve operational predictability, reduce operational risk and reduce equipment downtime. With Complete Care, Kalmar has integrated all its maintenance and material-management operations with the processes established by Matrans.

Roelf Buist, Managing Director, Matrans: “Our existing fleet of Kalmar Eco Reachstackers has been instrumental in helping us to cut emissions at the terminal and achieve a significant reduction in fuel costs. Adding additional machines of the same type was therefore a relatively straightforward decision, especially considering the excellent relationship we have built with the Kalmar services team.”

Dave Patterson, Vice President West and South Europe, Kalmar: “The Kalmar Eco Reachstacker is a prime example of our commitment to develop solutions that help customers to minimise their environmental impact while continuously improving their productivity. As well as demonstrating a high level of satisfaction with the machines, this order also reflects the excellent work of our service team on the ground.”
